As part of Korean language and culture program all the Level 6 students paid a visit to Dong-a Ilbo(one of popular national newspapers in S Korea) headquarters in Seoul, sometime around July 2010.
The Dong-a Ilbo (literally East Asia Daily) is a major South Korean newspaper. It was founded in 1920 by Kim Sung-soo who undertook Korea University during the Japanese occupation of Korea. Later, Kim also served as the second vice-president of South Korea in 1951. DongA Ilbo started as a nationalist paper but today it avows in its company motto to be critical and honest in reporting the news. It is also one of the three major newspapers in South Korea with a daily circulation of more than 2 million.
The headquarter has a museum which is worth looking. We were briefed by one of the staffs. After than we met the chief editor who explain us about the production of newspaper and other aspects. He also made a sample of front page with one of group photos(attached here). It was quite a good experience and a rare chance of getting an insight of newspaper while in a foreign country.
